Sol Awards

The All-Star Enterprise category seeks to highlight the holistic excellence and versatility of an organisation, recognising its ability to thrive and excel across multiple dimensions of its operations. The award is conferred to companies that demonstrates outstanding achievements and proficiency in various areas of their operations, to serve as role models in the business community, inspiring others to pursue excellence.

Eligibility

• Open to all Singapore registered companies in the furniture industry, including applicants to other award categories. The applicant need not be a member of the SFIC.

The Experiential Excellence category is conferred to companies that have demonstrated exceptional creativity, innovation and effectiveness in delivering immersive and engaging brand experiences to their target audience in the industry.

Eligibility

• Open to all Singapore registered companies in the furniture industry. The applicant need not be a member of the SFIC.

  • Well-defined and well-protected ecosystem of Proprietary Assets

The Innovation in Design category is conferred to companies that have demonstrated remarkable innovation, originality and functionality in their designs, pushing the boundaries of traditional concepts and introducing groundbreaking ideas. This category specifically focuses on recognising design achievements within the furniture industry, highlighting the transformative power of design in enhancing user experiences, aesthetic appeal, sustainability and functionality. It celebrates designs that not only fulfill practical needs but also evoke emotional connections, inspire new trends and contribute to the overall advancement of the furniture industry.

Eligibility

• Open to all Singapore registered companies in the design trade relating to Spatial Design (built/interior design), and/or Furniture Product/Service Design. The applicant need not be a member of SFIC.

Judging Criteria

• Financial growth or consistency (20%)
• Innovation (40%)
  • Idea, form and differentiation of the design
• Impact (40%)
  • Clarity of how the idea was implemented and communicated throughout the design
  • Environmental/Urban Living impact of the design
  • Function – How functional, effective, usable the product/space is

The New Entrant category is conferred to companies that have been established for five (5) years or less as at 31 July 2023 or have a major change in leadership for five (5) years or less as at 31 July 2023 and have made a significant impact to the company’s performance.

Eligibility

Open to all Singapore registered companies in the furniture and furniture-related trade (can be manufacturer, retailer, interior builder etc) which:

• have been established for five years or less as of 3 June 2023 or
• have been operating under a new entity/brand name for five years or less as of 3 June 2023 or
• have had a major leadership change that impact the company’s performance significantly in the last five years as of 3 June 2023

The applicant need not be a member of SFIC.

• Entrepreneur Spirit (60%)
• Financial success (20%)
• Management philosophy (20%)

*Examples of Entrepreneur Spirit include Quality Certifications & Awards, Unique Selling Proposition, Long-term Development Strategies, Innovations, Creativity, Concept & Strategies and Growth in market share.

The Outstanding Individual category is conferred to middle management and staff within the furniture and furniture related trade in Singapore. The Award aims to motivate and inspire industry individuals to scale new heights, and encourage good and consistent performance, exemplary conduct and attitude.

Eligibility

• The award is open to middle management and staff within the furniture industry in Singapore. Business owners, shareholders, directors and senior management are not eligible to participate.

Judging Criteria

• Achievement and contributions to the company (25%)
• Commitment to succeed (25%)
• Leadership qualities (25%)
• Overall performance (25%)

The Sustainability Leaders Recognition (SLR) category aims to recognise and promote companies that have made progress in integrating sustainability into their operations, and to spur them on to continue placing sustainability at the forefront of their business practices.

Eligibility

• Open to all Singapore registered companies in the furniture industry, including applicants to other award categories. The applicant need not be a member of the SFIC.

Judging Criteria

• The applicant company must NOT engage in substantially environmental or socially detrimental activities, including the trade of cigarettes, arms and conflict minerals, and investments in the aforementioned items and the fossil fuel industry.
• The applicant company must attain all points in order to be considered for the SLR.
