Size matters when it comes to taking on big interior projects.

Shared services, where available, can provide cash-strapped firms with otherwise little or no access to machinery and/or software; a level-playing field to compete against the bigger players.

To small woodworking companies which had to turn down lucrative commissions due to a lack of equipment such as a CNC machine, Arimokko (a subsidiary of commercial interior design and renovation company Renovator Hub) is a ‘lifeline’.

Arimokko’s in-house carpentry workshop services include customised panel wood fabrications and can handle polyester base, steel and solid timber wood for fit out works.

The young company specialises in commercial interior design and renovation projects using its state-of-the-art equipment operated by a team of highly-skilled workers. Complementing Renovator Hub’s core business of a one-stop interior decoration service, Arimokko also offers fitting services for the Business-to-Business (B2B) sector, residential and other institutional projects.

Renovator Hub started as a home renovation firm in 2006 and expanded to what it is today thanks to the collective vision of its enterprising founder Don Lim and his interior designer wife. Fast and reliable service had earned the firm a growing customer base.

The husband-and-wife entrepreneurship venture emphasises quality over quantity and oversees a small team of just 15 administrative and operational staff. With an eye on quality control, manufacturing are done in-house and sub-contracting kept to a minimum.

With a strong belief in innovation, the company had also invested in the PYTHA solution, giving its design capabilities a shot in the arm. Shaving the required time to produce quick drawings, the advanced 3D Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) system has enabled Arimokko to manage a wide range of projects from interior design, furniture making, exhibition design to shop fitting. Arimokko customers have access to photorealistic real-time visualization and real-time walk through for their virtual projects.

Renovator Hub is one of the early adopters of PYTHA, a collaboration between SFIC and The Knowhow. In, and have reaped the benefits from the Enterprise Singapore-funded software which expires at the end of this year. The investment has since paid off handsomely via productivity boosts.

IFFS 2019 visitors might have seen Renovator Hub’s handiwork at the SFIC NEX GEN Urban Living showcase entitled “Work Smarter, Live Better” featuring design studio 11H and furniture hardware supplier Spaceweiss.

Primarily serving the office and HORECA (Hotel/Restaurant/Cafe) segments, Renovator Hub prides itself in producing only the best commercial interior design and renovation. There is no shortage of local retail and hospitality projects in its impressive portfolio which can be found on its website.

For the ambitious entrepreneur, merely serving the local market is no longer enough:

“The local market has reached a point of saturation. For our expansion plans, the only way is out-of-town now”, says Don.

Besides seeking new projects and clients, the company is also actively exploring opportunities through SFIC’s overseas missions and programmes.
