Today, 55% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, a proportion that is expected to increase to 68% by 2050. As the world continues to urbanise, understanding the key trends and identifying sustainable solutions remain crucial, with urban dwellers now increasingly well-travelled, design-savvy, digitally inclined and house-proud.
To address the challenges of tomorrow’s urban living with a new theme and a brand-new venue, the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) 2019, co-located with NOOK Asia 2019 and the 36th ASEAN Furniture Show, will debut at Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Halls A to F, at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) from 9 to 12 March 2019.
Sands Expo and Convention Centre is located at the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District, and is Asia’s leading destination for business, leisure and entertainment. The new venue will bring a fresh perspective of IFFS’s 36th edition in 2019.
The new theme, UrbanAsia – the Future of Urban Living, will highlight, illustrate and transform urban living trends around the world. Expect a comprehensive range of furniture, furnishings and fittings, spread across six well-curated halls, from almost 400 quality exhibitors from over 25 countries. These include leading Singapore brands and internationally renowned exhibitors such as Manutti (Belgium), NS Furniture (China), Linie Design (Denmark), Asiades (Hong Kong), Ayub Rugs (India), Wicker Kane (Indonesia), TOO U SRL (Italy), Clantree by Maruta (Japan), Woven+ (Netherlands), A. Garcia (Philippines), APIMA (Portugal), KODA (Singapore), National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute – Lumber (Taiwan), Deesawat (Thailand), Tetrad (United Kingdom), and District Eight (Vietnam).

IFFS 2019 will unveil three signature showcases, in partnership with leading renowned designers. The curators include Cameron Woo Design, famous for their work at Leedon Park in Singapore and The Haven in Australia. These well-curated and tastefully-crafted showcases will draw inspiration from the rich heritage, culture and diversity of densely populated ASEAN countries and offer a unique first-hand experience for trade visitors.
Each signature showcase will cater to different lifestyles, from speculative scenarios to tangible solutions, and will be elegantly designed and luxuriously furnished.
To embrace innovation, IFFS 2019 will feature Virtual Reality International exhibitors, such as Asiades and Woven+ would bring brand-new collections and pay hommage to the new theme of urban living. With the new technological advancements, exhibitors and visitors alike can explore furniture design and creation through new perspectives. The perennial crowd favourite, Design STARS Showcase, will also make a stunning return at IFFS 2019. Focusing on Asian designers, the showcase will feature statement furniture and furnishing pieces by Asian designers building their brand awareness and growing their global presence.
