NOVEMBER 2017 FEATURE:
IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2018: A multi-sensorial show experience
IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2018 will be a multi-sensorial show experience that introduces technology, celebrates design and facilitates connection
The annual International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS), held in conjunction with the ASEAN Furniture Show (AFS) and NOOK Asia, makes its return at the Singapore EXPO from 8 to 11 March 2018!
Widely recognised by leading industry players as Asia’s premier design-led sourcing platform, and with Singapore being a key strategic trade gateway to Asia and beyond, IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2018 will feature a comprehensive range of furniture, furnishing, decorative accessories, interiors and fittings by a diverse portfolio of quality exhibitors from almost 40 countries.
For local exhibitors, this also offers an excellent opportunity to penetrate the highly dynamic international market as the fair attracts well over 20,000 international trade buyers and visitors from almost 100 countries.
To-date, the local companies who are already on board with IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2018 are: Riva Designs, Unipanel, Koda, Sam and Sara, Lingua Franca, Neverland Furniture, Winsun Home Furniture, Nyee Phoe Flower Gardens, Wayco, Danovel, Novaz and more.
A key partner event of the Singapore Design Week, the various design initiatives – Design STARS, International Designer Showcase, and design-related seminars – offer added depth and dimension to this Singapore-anchored trade event, raising its profile as a show not-to-be-missed in the industry calendar.
Besides being an industry-leading fair to showcase the latest collections and design initiatives, IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2018 will also feature attractive elements to create a more interactive and immersive trade experience.
The Piazza
For the first time, IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia will be partnering Cristina Romero, International Director of ELLE Decoration, to design an exclusively-styled pop-up showroom and showcase up-and-coming brands looking towards penetrating the global market in furniture, lighting, homeware, and lifestyle accessories.

Italian New Renaissance
Following the success of The Italian Hospitality at IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2017, IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia will continue to collaborate with world-renowned Italian designer Giulio Cappellini to curate an exclusive feature area known as the Italian New Renaissance. Modelled after a typical noble house in Italy, this showcase will feature 15 new, leading Italian furniture and furnishing brands, and include various living environments (e.g. living room, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom) surrounding a courtyard. Visitors can expect an immersive experience and a grand atmosphere as they walk through a classic line-up of rooms filled with design-led pieces of immaculate finishing, mimicking villas of the Renaissance period.

National Pavilions
Enhancing its position as a truly international trade fair, IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia welcomes 12 National Pavilions to the upcoming edition to further excite and engage visitors with showcases of furniture, interior lighting, finished home textiles, and luxury decorative accessories such as pottery, tableware and cutlery. For the upcoming fair, five National Pavilions will also be making their inaugural debuts – France, Japan, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey.
Augmented Reality
IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2018 leads the pack once again by being the first furniture and furnishing trade exhibition in the region to launch an augmented reality (AR) zone. Through the implementation of this simulated technology, the fair offers 20 leading exhibitors the ability to showcase an expanded product range. Using a mobile app, visitors can call up on screen the representations of an exhibitors’ products by scanning the company logo on the Show Directory, and enjoy a more interactive experience.
LiftOff
The fair has partnered Melbourne-based crowdfunding portal, Pozible, to launch LiftOff (liftoff.pozible.com), a platform for designers to garner financial support to convert their novel ideas into reality. An ‘all-or-nothing’ fundraising concept, LiftOff offers the design community the means to reach and build supporters. By launching this platform, IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia hopes to help more designers find success, and to turn more inspiring pieces from conceptions to reality.
Design STARS Showcase
Slated to make a comeback at IFFS/AFS/NOOK Asia 2018, the Design STARS Showcase features talented designers around the world who have made a significant impact through their works. Visitors can expect statement-making and timeless furniture and furnishing masterpieces from these rising creative geniuses.

What our local exhibitors and visitors say:
“IFFS is one of the two shows, and the only one in Asia, that we invested in this year. We are interested to sell to the international market and IFFS offers us the platform to do just that. This year, we also chose to debut our ipse ipsa ipsum collection that was designed in collaboration with Nathan Yong at IFFS, and it has received excellent responses from the industry.”
Saurabh MANGLA, Founder
Sam and Sara Home Pte. Ltd. (Singapore)
“IFFS was absolutely enjoyable. The fair is an unrivaled opportunity for me to meet with international brands and designers, allowing for endless possibilities – from future collaborations, further design critique and development for my works, and even chances to form new bonds and friendships with both Singaporean and fellow designers worldwide!”
Celine NG, Founder & Designer
Fraction Design Studio (Singapore)
“I’m here to look for retailers and distributors, and I’ve met many contacts from various countries. Specifically, we were looking to enter the Australian market, and we’ve definitely achieved that goal through exhibiting at IFFS. This is the only show we go to in the Asia Pacific region. We’re satisfied with the results from this maiden participation and we will be back again!”
Grant Horsfield, Director
Riva Designs (Singapore)
“I have visited IFFS a few times in the past and I’m here again because we find value in trade shows that continually keep things fresh, by offering content that reflects new trends and by introducing promising new players to the mix.”
Delphine LEON, Director – Interior Design
D’Apres Nous D&B Pte Ltd (Singapore)
“I’ve been attending IFFS for the last three years as a buyer. I tend to favour home décor, accessories, and furniture with Chinese, Indonesian, modern Thai, and Filipino influences. I remember the few Chinese exhibitors that I met back then and their quality furniture on showcase – that has stuck with me till now. We managed to gain precious, good leads in past editions, with whom we are still working with. I am looking forward to obtaining the same results this year.”
Anne
Azure Home (Singapore)
“I come to IFFS every year. I’m not looking for anything in particular while I’m here. It’s just nice to meet the other designers in the region, or those who fly all the way to be here.”
Philip ONG, Senior Designer
Cellini Design Center (Singapore)
“I represent an Italian company and they might be keen on participating in the show next year. Singapore is attractive that way – European companies see this place as a way to expand to the region.”
